Case Study: Browne Jacobson and the Fastest Update in the West

Browne Jacobson is a major UK Nationwide law firm and are accredited experts across the private and public sectors. Browne Jacobson has true national reach, with offices in Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester, Exeter, and London. With hundreds of lawyers and partners, and a significantly expanding client base, Browne Jacobson are a company that needs significant technical assistance to support their rapid growth.


Simplify IT has provided such assistance for over 9 years. Here's one recent example of that kind of support, which we're proud to say was another big success. The Task at Hand


As part of their commitment to improving their service, Browne Jacobson decided to deploy a new legal application. In order to support the new application, newer infrastructure was required to meet the needs of the users.

State of the Art Technology


Simplify IT engaged with Browne Jacobson to provide a better solution that could easily provide the required performance. That solution included the latest NetApp AFF A250, all flash storage arrays with fast NVMe SSDs. This was connected to the latest Aruba  100 GB Switches which in turn connected to the very latest HPE Synergy 12000 BladeSystem.

Fit for Purpose - and something extra too


Confident that we had the right solution lined up, we set about the task of deploying the new infrastructure. After putting two of our senior Technicians on the job, they soon had 100GB switching between the Synergy and Network stack and there was 25GB connectivity between the AFF A250 all flash storage and Aruba switches.


But we didn't stop there as we all always like to go the extra mile. We repurposed the existing legacy infrastructure from the live site and migrated it to the DR site to beef up the Disaster Recovery set up.

Logistical Issues


As you may be aware, the global silicon shortage has cause big delays in sourcing hardware, which is causing hold ups in many IT projects and costing money and downtime. Not on our watch. Simplify IT provided Browne Jacobson loan 100GB switches in order to complete the project on time.


We often keep equipment handy just in case we need to react to a situation like this and so it proved fortuitous indeed. These are the fine details and service we pride ourselves on.

The Fastest Update in the West


The software vendor who was deploying the new app for Browne Jacobson commented that it was the fastest software update and deployment they've ever had to do. Tasks that were expected to take 2 to 3 hours to complete took 10-15 minutes on their new infrastructure. Not only was user performance deemed to be amazing and beyond expectations, there have also been no outages during the entire deployment phase, so completely reliable too.

Outcome


Browne Jacobson considered the transition from their old to new environments as seamless. Not only that, but the live site now includes far less rackspace as the new estate is significantly smaller, though far more capable.
